There is something special between you and your boat. If you want to keep a memory of your boat, instead of just a photograph, how about a work of art? I am a long time boater and artist who enjoys working with fellow boaters to capture their boating memories in a custom painting. Learning about your boat and sharing cruising stories is always an added plus for me.
COMMISSION PROCESS: The process starts by discussing your desires for the painting. The focus of the painting can be the boat or yacht, or it can be a favorite cruising destination. If you are unsure of the composition, we could discuss it. We will review photos of your boat together, noting what elements to include or remove, such as fenders, flags and people. For the painting, I use fluid acrylics with a focus on watercolor style. Next, the size of the framed painting needs to be selected. My standard sizes are listed below. I would be pleased to do a custom size for you if you need a different size. A painting typically takes 4 weeks for completion. Upon completion of the painting, I will send you a digital photo of the piece for your approval. I will make adjustments to the painting if needed. It is very important to me that you are pleased with the final painting. Each painting is framed in a simple metal frame, matted with a double white mat.
REQUIREMENTS: For the boat portrait, I prefer a good quality digital photo of your boat as you'd like to see it painted. Prints are fine if a digital photo isn’t available. Along with this photo, a selection of reference or detail photographs, preferably from different angles are needed, to make sure all the features are clear. If your boat is in my area, I'm more than happy to come out and photograph it for you. If the boat is to be cruising, a photo of your boat underway is critical, since each boat throws a different wake. The desired background for the boat can come either from your own photos or from a collection I have assembled throughout my years of cruising. I will need your contact information for any questions I might have while completing your painting.
PAYMENT PROCESS: A 50% deposit confirms your place in the queue. The balance, including taxes and shipping if applicable, is required prior to delivery. Prices and standard sizes are below.

Lori Nelson-Clonts has been offering fine art sandblasted glass pieces to collectors for over twenty years. Her love of the Pacific Northwest is visible in the amazing pieces she creates.
Her glass pieces are sandblasted, which means they are carved with high pressure sand and air mixed. The process is a ‘resist process.’ A mask of a thin rubber-like material is applied to the glass like shelf paper. Then the drawing is transferred and redrawn in ink. All the lines are cut with a small knife. Some of the shapes are removed to expose the parts ready for blasting. Each piece is then sandblasted in stages, blasting the deepest shapes first and working up to the shallowest areas.
Lori says that she loves carved glass for its ethereal quality. Something that was once sand is transformed to liquid and then to a solid transparent form that interacts with light and space like no other material. The subtle ghost like images of sandblasted glass appear solid and airy at the same.
COMMISSION PROCESS: The process begins with a discussion about the type of piece you have in mind and the budget for the project. Once the details have been decided and a 50% deposit is paid, work begins! NOTE: The piece listed, 'Sand Dunes', is not for sale. We have listed it as an example of Ms. Nelson-Clonts work. All Ms. Nelson-Clonts art is available on a commission basis only. Ordering this piece will begin the commission process. Merging the Worlds of Design and Yachting For over 20 years as an industrial designer, Stu Whitcomb has created a broad range of hi-tech and consumer products with companies such as Tektronix and Philco-Ford.
Stu has merged his design and boating experience to create rich and accurate hi-tech yacht illustrations directly from your plans and in some cases photos. These yacht illustrations are what Stu calls "High Definition Yacht Illustrations".
These yacht illustrations are developed on a computer and are typically printed with airbrush quality onto watercolor paper using a very high-resolution 7-color ink jet printer. Other printers are available, too. For ultra-high resolution, the LED printer images onto a 50-year life archiving photo paper. For handouts and mass mailings, high volume laser prints are available. In addition to the print, you will receive a High Definition Illustration printed on a CD in TIFF and JPEG formats. Archival CDs, of all work, will be maintained as backup security at no additional charge.
COMMISSION PROCESS: The process begins with you placing a deposit. Once this is done, I'll need a legible and accurate line drawings of views necessary to complete the illustration as ordered. You'll be contacted with a firm price for the completed project. Each vessel is different, so it is impossible to quote a price without seeing an image.
Base prices are as follows: Profile view - $420.00 Plan view - $525.00 A plan view includes one interior deck level. Additional views, such as multi-deck levels or exterior plan views are extra. Perspective view - $750.00
